Born about 1834 in Litchfield, Michigan, employed as a laborer, married to Rachel Vanderwater, resident of Elkhart, in Elkhart Co., Indiana. Discharged for wounds Oct. 6, 1862 in Indianapolis, Indiana with rank of Private. Notes: Wounded severely in left hip & thigh at Shiloh & sent to Cairo, Illinois then to Simons' General Hospital in Mound City, Illinois; discharged for atrophied limb.
