- George Maybee, of Co. I, enrolled Sep. 10, 1861 in Elkhart by Capt. Heath as a Private; mustered in Nov. 22, 1861 in Ft. Wayne by Lt. Stansbury at age 27. He was 5 5 tall, florid complexion, hazel eyes, and black hair. Born about 1834 in Litchfield, Michigan, employed as a laborer, married to Rachel Vanderwater, resident of Elkhart, in Elkhart Co., Indiana. Discharged for wounds Oct. 6, 1862 in Indianapolis, Indiana with rank of Private. Notes: Wounded severely in left hip & thigh at Shiloh & sent to Cairo, Illinois then to Simons' General Hospital in Mound City, Illinois; discharged for atrophied limb. Filed Invalid Pension #10818 Oct. 29, 1862. indexed as Mabee, Mayble, Nabee
