  Anecdote	A stream at one time crossed High Street at Mabey Road junction and this was spanned by a bridge in 1845. On the section between the Methodist Church site and Cemetery Road (originally James's Lane) stood Renall's Mill driven by a waterwheel begun by Mr. Job Mabey 1849 and completed with the help of Mr. A.W. Renall who operated the mill. It was badly damaged by the earthquake of 1855 but restored only to be rendered useless by the great flood of 1858.
