- Harland A. "Archie" Maybee, 67, of La Crosse, passed away Tuesday, May 14, 2002, at his home after a year-long battle with cancer. Archie was secure in his love for, and faith in, his loving heavenly Father. He was born June 22, 1934, to Archie and Ethel Maybee in Soldiers Grove, Wis. He attended both grade school and high school in "the Grove." In 1953, he married Carolyn Johnson. They had a daughter, Julie, and they later divorced. He married Levon Erdman on Oct. 22, 1977, at the Little Brown Church, Nashua, Iowa.
He worked for the Trane Company for 41 years and retired on Oct. 1, 1994. He was a member of the Trane 25-Year Club and Trane Lodge Local 21.
Arch loved all sports including softball; was a member of the 700 Bowling Club; loved euchre, hunting and fishing; and was a big fan of the Green Bay Pack ers.
He is survived by his wife, Levon; his daughter, Julie Maybee and her friend, Hunter; stepchildren, David (Leanne) Erdman and Kimberly (Brad) Littlejohn; three stepgrandchildren, Eric (Wendy) Erdman, Daniel Erdman and friend Deanna and Jennifer Littlejohn; and two great-grandchildren, Erica and Justin Erdman. He loved each and every one of them. He is further survived by his mother, Ethel Maybee of Soldiers Grove; brothers, Cecil (Harriet) Maybee of Macheseny Park, Ill., and Terry (Gloria) Maybee of Janesville, Wis.; sisters, Irene (Gordon) Dull and Fern (Jim) Connley, both of Soldiers Grove and Janice (Erland) Dregne, of Viroqua, Wis.; and many special nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, an infant son and two infant brothers.
Harland became a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in 1978. He enjoyed the church, all his wonderful friends and the pastor. He looked forward to the friendly hugs when he came to church. A special thanks to Gundersen Lutheran Hospice, all of his dear friends who came to see him and for all of the cards and phone calls.
Archie was a wonderful husband, dad and grandpa. He will be missed very, very much.
Funeral services will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Bethel Lutheran Church. The Reverend Judd Larson will officiate. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery, Blair, Wis. Friends may call at the Dickinson Family Funeral Home, 809 Gillette Street, La Crosse, today from 5 to 7 p.m. and at the church on Thursday from 10a.m. until the service.

- Ethel Maybee, 95, of Soldiers Grove passed away Thursday, Jan. 15, 2004, at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove. Ethel was born at home in Glenn Haven, Wis., to Everett and Susan (Martin) Hutchcroft on July 13, 1908. She attended Flatrock School in Grant County, Fergeson School in Richland Center, Wis., and Seward School in Crawford County.
Ethel married Archie Maybee on Nov. 29, 1923, in the RLDS Church, Montgomeryville, Soldiers Grove. She was a member of the Community of Christ (RLDS) Church, Soldiers Grove, for many years. She was involved with the church and her family. She lived at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home from Jan. 24, 2000, until the time of her death.
Ethel is survived by her five children, Fern (Jim) Connely of Soldiers Grove, Irene (Gordon) Dull of Soldiers Grove, Cecil Maybee (Harriet) of Rockford, Ill., Janice (Erland) Dregne of Viroqua, Terry Maybee (Gloria) of Janesville; one-daughter-in-law, Levon Maybee of La Crosse; 20 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren, as well as many relatives and friends.
In addition to her husband and parent, Ethel was preceded in death by three sons, Orland, John and Harland; three sisters, Mabel Bacon, Edith Twing and Florence Maybee; and one brother, Floyd.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. today at Sime Funeral Home, Readstown, Wis. Funeral services will be held at the Community of Christ (RLDS) Church, Montgomeryville, at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 17, Elder John Johnson and Pastor Stacy Maybee [her grandson] officiating. Burial will be in the Montgomeryville Cemetery, Soldiers Grove, beside her husband, Archie.

- Irene E. Dull, 78, of Soldiers Grove passed away on Wednesday, February 13, 2008, at Vernon Memorial Hospital in Viroqua.
She was born on July 25, 1929, at Soldiers Grove, to Archie and Ethel (Hutchcroft) Maybee. She attended Soldiers Grove area schools. She married Roy Alan Edge in 1946 and together they raised their children —Brenda, Alanna and Mark —until his death in 1960. Irene married Gordon Dull at Soldiers Grove in 1962. They raised their combined family: Brenda (Robert) Haas, Sandy Strait, Dana (Terry) Martin, Alanna (Richard) Scott, Jon (Linda) Dull, Mark (Debbie) Edge, Jayne (Mark) Turgason and Jill (Mark) Witkowski.
She was employed by Soldiers Grove schools as school secretary from 1959-1962 and Seats, Inc. in Reedsburg from 1973 to 1980. She enjoyed her retirement with Gordon in their homes in Soldiers Grove and winters in Zephyrhills, Florida.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Harland Maybee; and a daughter and son-in-law, Jayne and Mark Turgason, and a brother-in-law, Jim Connely.
She is survived by her husband, Gordon of Soldiers Grove; her above named children; her sisters, Fern Connely and Janice (Erland) Dregne, all of Viroqua; her brothers, Cecil (Harriet) Maybee of Machesney Park, Illinois and Terry (Gloria) Maybee of Janesville; one sister-in-law, Levon Maybee of La Crosse; 14 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren and many nephews and nieces.
The family wishes to especially thank Trish Swasko, D.P.A., the medical staff and Hospice of Vernon Memorial Hospital for their compassionate care.
Funeral services were held on Friday, February 15, 2008, at the Readstown Church of Christ. Pastor Lance Lorenz and Pastor Mike Zylstra officiated. Burial was in the North Clayton Cemetery. - Cecil Allen Maybee, age 78, of Machesney Park, IL passed away Wednesday February 19, 2014 at home surrounded by family. Born on December 16, 1935 in Richland Center, WI to Archie Allen and Ethel Marie Maybee (Hutchcroft). He married Ruby Harriet Christianson at Fort Leonard Wood, MO on November 8, 1956. Cecil was a veteran of the US Army and served in Korea during the Korean War. He loved to play Euchre and very much enjoyed the time spent at the Rockford Speedway watching the stock car races.
He is survived by his wife, Ruby; children, Blair Maybee, Debbie Olsen and Randy (Pat) Maybee; grandchildren, Wayne (Lindsey) Buck and Ryan Olsen; great grandchildren, Alaina and Allison Olsen and Harper Buck; siblings, Terry (Kim) Maybee, Fern (late Jim) Connely and Janice (late Erland) Dregne; sister-in-law, Levon Maybee; brother-in-law, Gordon Dull; as well as numerous nieces,nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his son, Todd Maybee; brother, Harland Maybee; sister, Irene Dull; and his parents.
A Celebration of Life Memorial will be held on Saturday May 31, 2014 from 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm in the "Illinois Room" at the Forest Hills Lodge, 1601 West Lane Road, Loves Park, IL, 61111. Cremation Private. Christenson Funeral Home & Crematory is assisting with arrangements. Memorials to the Family. A special Thank You to all our wonderful neighbors for your loving care and support.
