1 Sep 1928 |
Waterloo, Iowa [12] |
- The ashes of the late Everett M Mabie, a former resident of Waterloo, who died in Bloomingdale sanitarium, White Plains NY, Aug 29, will be brought to Waterloo fort interment, a letter from Mrs Siddie F Thummel, Mt Vernon, NY, states, Mr Mabie and his brother, C. E. Were well known in Waterloo among the older residents.
Everett married Caro, daughter of Mr and Mrs George R Crittenden, but she preceded him in death. He had been in the sanitarium for 20 years.
Mrs Thrummel writes that Mr Mabie failed rapidly after the tragic death of his daughter, Carmen Walmsley, and her husband Major Walmsley of the United States army. They were killed in an automobile accident in Arizona, near the Mexican border. His wish to live to see his three grandchildren, the children of Major and Mrs Walmsley, was granted.
Last week the Walmsley children went to see him and the mother of Major Walmsley. The family reached Chicago last Tuesday and Mrs Crittenden left Thursday for New York.
