Carmel, New York [5] |
- The death of Martin A. Mabie, one of the oldest and beat known carpenters in Danbury, occurred at his home on Brookside avenue at eight o'clock, Saturday morning. Mr. Mabie was born in Patterson, N. Y., in 1835 and moved to Danbury when a young man and took a position with W. W. Sunderland and remained to his employ for over forty years.
He worked at his trade until a comparatively short time before his death, when his failing health forced him to retire. He had been slowly and constantly failing for about four months and his death was due to a general breaking down after many years of steady labor. He is survived by his wife and two sons, George E. and Samuel D. Mabie, three grand-children and a great grand-daughter.
The deceased was a member of the American Mechanics and Local 927, United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners.—Danbury News.
