- James Edmund Mabie was born at Montour, Iowa, July 13, 1899, the son of Franklin Jeremiah and Rosalie (Elliott) Mabie. His father, who was a merchant, was born at Delavan Lake, Wisconsin, March 11, 1858, and died at Dickens, Iowa, December 24, 1921 [1920]. Mr. Mabie was graduated from the high school at Nemaha, Iowa, in 1917, and later attended the Hamilton School of Commerce at Mason City, Iowa, for a time. He is manager of the Beaver City Cooperative Creamery at this time and takes an active interest in community affairs.
Mr. Mabie is a member of the Beaver City Community Club and the Beaver City Rotary Club, is affiliated with the First Methodist Church, and is a Mason and Odd Fellow. His sports are golfing and tennis, while his hobby is reading. During the World War he served as a private in the United States Army overseas for 19 months, and is now a member of the American Legion.
His marriage to Hazel Gladys Hotchkiss was solemnized at Spirit Lake, December 25, 1924, she was born at Eagle Grove, Iowa, December 15, 1903. She is the daughter of Willis R. and Ada (Gray) Hotchkiss. Their two children are: Howard Ted, born April 28, 1926; and Eleanor Jean, born January 25, 1928. Residence: Beaver City.

- Funeral Services for Mrs Lola Chapman, 64, of Terrill, were held at the Methodist church here (Estherville), Rev. Harrison G. Dawes officiated and burial was in Grandview cemetery at Terrill.
Mrs Chapman was born November 3, 1890, at Marengo, Ia. She was a member of the Methodist church, Order of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs and Daughters of the American Revolution.
Survivors include two sons, Frank of Spencer and Walter, jr. of Estherville; a daughter, Mrs W. R. Christensen of Rockwell City; a brother J. E. Mabie of Lincoln; a sister, Mrs W. A. Thayer of Emmetsburg and nine grandchildren.

- James Edmund Mabie, Sr., 64 died Monday, Oct 14, at Lincoln where he had lived for the past 10 years. He is a former resident of Bassett, where he was in business and had lived in Nebraska 38 years. He was retired as auditor for state board institutions.
Survivors include his wife Hazel of Lincoln; a daughter, Mrs Lyle Kops of Bassett; sons, H. Ted of Malcom, Nebr; and Dr James E. Jr., of Bassett, sister, Gertrude Thayer of Emmettsburg, Ia., and 14 grandchildren.
He was a World War I veteran, a member of St. James Methodist church, Masonic lodge No 79, past master of Masonic lodge 254 of Bassett, York Rite Mason of Sesostris Temple Shrine, past patron of Hypatias chapter 209 Order of Eastern Star, American Legion post No. 3, VFW post 131, Royal Arch Masons Pine chapter 151 at Long Pine and Bethel Commandery 28 of Knights Templar at Long Pine.
Funeral services were held at Roper and Sons chapel, Wednesday afternoon with Rev. Clarence Campbell officiant. Burial was in Lincoln Memorial Park cemetery.
