- Amy Emma Mabie, 78, of 351 N. Allen Chapel Road, died at 5:20 a.m. Saturday (March 2, 1996) at Shepard of the Hill, where she had been a resident since 1986. She was born May 19, 1917, in Michigan, and married Charles Mabie, who died in 1971. Surviving are one Stepson, Arden Mabie, of Elkhart; one stepdaughter, Mary Watts, of Goshen; and sister, Faye Hatfield of Warsaw. There will be no visitation. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Prairie Street Cemetery in Elkhart. Arrangements are being handled by Hite Funeral Home Inc. of Kendallville. Mrs. Mabie was a factory worker until her retirement.

- Arden Eugene Mabie, 76, of Osceola, Ind., passed away in his home on Oct. 7, 2011, surrounded by his family and friends.
He was born Jan. 26, 1935, in Elkhart, Ind., to Charles and Wenonah (Atkinson) Mabie. Arden served in the Army Special Forces during the Korean War and was a lifetime member of the American Legion Post 93 in Dunlap, Ind.
Arden retired from Sharp Steel Service and Penguin Point Franchise in 2007.
He is survived by his wife, Betty Ann (Master) whom he wed on Oct. 18, 1969, in South Bend, Ind. Also surviving are his four children, Grant (Joy) Mabie, Coral (Lio) Mabie, Leslie (Deron) Kosloski, Charlene (Gary) Mabie-Gamble, and one adopted daughter, Cindy (Merle) Sater; 19 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mary (Robert) Clemans.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Donna Clemans.
There will be no visitation per his request. Cremation will take place at Elkhart Cremation Services.
