- George V. Mabie, 81, of Churchill Road, South Otselic, died unexpectedly on Sunday, Feb. 4, 2001 at the Chenango Memorial Hospital in Norwich.
Mr. Mabie was born in Hoboken, N.J. on Oct. 15, 1919, the son of the late William and Christina Bartelmes Mabie. He was a veteran of World War II, where he served in the U.S. Army and spent much of his time in Germany. He was a member and Past Commander of the American Legion Post 57, Waldwick, N.J.; a member of the VFW Post 2782, Norwich; and a member of the Elks Lodge 1222, Norwich. He was also a member of the South Otselic Fire Police and remained active with them for several years. He was predeceased by his sister, Irene Blasko, and two brothers, Edward and Charles Mabie.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Janet Jeffer Mabie of South Otselic; and two sons, George V. (Jan) Mabie Jr. of Englewood, Fla. and Charles H. (Charlene) Mabie of Ramsey, N.J. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
The family will be present to receive friends at the Black Funeral Home, Cincinnatus, on Wednesday evening from 7 to 9 p.m., where members of the Elks Lodge 122 will conduct a prayer service at 8 p.m. Funeral and committal services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11 a.m. with Jeanne Angell officiating. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, donations in George's memory may be made to the South Otselic Fire Police, c/o South Otselic Fire Department, South Otselic, NY 13155.

- Paramus – Funeral services were held today for John W Mabie, 79, of 246 West Midland Ave, who died Sunday after a brief illness. A solemn high requiem Mass was offered in the Church of the Annunciation, with interment following in the Holy Cross Cemetery, North Arlington.
A retired painter, Mr Mabie lived in the community for the past 14 years.
He Leaves his wife, Christine Barthelmes Mabie' one daughter, Mrs Michael Blasko, of Maywood; two sons, Edward of Paramus and George V of Midland Park, and five grandchildren

- Hackensack – Mrs Christine Mabie, of 397 Park St, died Saturday at Bergen Pines County Hospital after a brief illness. She was the widow of the late John W Mabie.
Born in New York City, she lived here six years, before that residing in Paramus. She was a parishioner of Holy Trinity RC Church. Mrs Mabie was a member of the same church's Rosary Society and a member of the Senior Citizens of Hackensack.
She is survived by two sons, Edward of Rochelle Park and George V of Ridgewood; two daughters Mrs Irene Belasko of Maywood and Mrs Evelyn Nesmith of California; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, and one brother Herman Barthlemes of Dover.
The funeral will be held tomorrow.
