  Military Service	Elijah Miller participated in the French and Indian Wars. He served as 1st Lt. of Capt. Fowler's Company in the Middle Battalion, and was appointed Adjutant of the Westchester regiment under the command of Col. Samual Drake on October 10, 1775, by Nathaniel Woodhull, President of the Provincial Congress. He was wounded in battle the following year at Hurstgate, Long Island, and died a few weeks later. Two of his sons, Elijah Jr. and John, died of disease in camp on December 22, 1776. His house, located in North Castle, served as Washington's Headquarters during the Battle of White Plains, 1776, and in 1778 and 1781.
