- Saugus, Mass, 11 May 1967 – A 44-year-old man died early today shortly after he was stabbed twice in the stomach at his home, police charged his brother with the murder.
Benjamin Mabee died at Saugus General Hospital. Police said he was stabbed by his brother, Syril Mabee, 49, also of Saugus.
Police said the two had argued earlier and parted by Syril returned to his brother's home with a Japanese bayonet.
Syril was charged with murder, assault on the occupant of a dwelling, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.
He was held for arraignment in Lynn District Court
Lynn, 22 May 1967 – Cyril Mabee, 40, of Henry st, charged with murder in the stabbing death his brother, Benjamin Mabee, of 36 Ballard st, Lynn, was defaulted when his case was called in Lynn District Court today. Police explained to Judge William L Landergan that Mabee is still at the Danvers State Hospital where he is being given tests to determine his sanity. The victim, father of four children was stabbed with a Japanese bayonet following an argument.
