- Succumbing to a two weeks' illness, Carl Mabie, 54, prominent Mason and political figure of Redwood City, died last night at Mills Memorial Hospital.
Nine years ago Mr Mabie resigned as city councilman to become postmaster of Redwood City, a position he held until a month ago, when he was succeeded by Robert O'Connell.
Surviving are four children, Kendall of Burlingame and Carl Jr, Eldon and Joan of Redwood City.
Funeral services have been tentatively set for Tuesday at the home, 243 Sansome street, Redwood City.

- Mrs Ina Mabie, 62, a prominent club woman and widow of former Redwood City mayor and one time postmaster, the late Carl Mabie, died today at her home, 243 Samson street (Redwood City), after an illness of a few weeks.
A native of Illinois, she had resided here 41 years, and was a member of Sequoia chapter 201, OES; Olive Branch Lodge 48 of Rebekah; Robin Hood Circle 51, Neighbors of Woodcraft, and the General Geo S Eans corps, Women's Relief corps. Her husband served as postmaster for six years under President Hoover, and was a former city councilman and mayor.
She leaves three sons, Kendall, San Rafael; Carl, Redwood City, and Eldon, in the navy; a daughter, Mrs Joan M Joesten, San Francisco; two sisters, Mrs Jennie Grant, San Jose, and Mrs Ellen Thornhill, San Francisco, and a brother Leroy Joachim, Los Gatos. Funeral arrangements are pending.

- Kendall L Mabie of San Rafael, a resident of Marin County for 19 years, died yesterday in a local hospital after a short illness. He was 55.
Mabie was a division store keeper for the Pacific Gas and Electric Co in San Rafael. Hew had been with the company for 35 years. Before coming to Marin County, he lived in Oakland.
He was born in Redwood City, where during the 1920s his father Carl K Mabie, was mayor.
He was a member of the Redwood City Lodge 168, Free and Accepted Masons; Marin Pyramid 31 of Sciots, Marvelous Marin Hi Twelve Club, Marin Rod and Gun Club and Pacific Service Employees Assn.
He is survived by his wife Evelyn, a daughter Karen at the family home at 250 Lincoln Lane, two brothers and a sister, Carl F Mabie and Mrs Joan Joesten of Redwood City and Eldon G Mabie of Watsonville.

- Carl Frank Mabie passed away peacefully on January 5th, 2008 at Sequoia Hospital at the age of 96.
He was born in Redwood City on June 17, 1911 to Carl K. Mabie and Ina Mabie. His father was postmaster and mayor of Redwood City. Carl graduated from Sequoia High School in 1928 and worked for the Bank of Italy (now Bank of America), Curry Manufacturing Company and Larson Electronic Glass. He was an active member of the former Redwood City Sportman's Club, Rotary Club, Sirs, Suburbans, Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War, as well as a 60-year plus member of the Masonic Lodge.
Carl was an avid water fowl and deer hunter in his younger years. He was known for his positive sense of humor and a living source of history for the area in which he grew up and lived. His many stories will be long remembered by family members and friends.
Carl was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Dorothy, in 1983, and his older brother, Kendall, in 1960.
He is survived by his son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Anneliese Mabie of Newark; son and daughter-in-law Richard and Norma Mabie of Weaverville; and daughter and son-in-law Susan and Gary Ransford from San Carlos, as well as five grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Also surviving him are his younger brother Eldon Mabie of Watsonville and his younger sister Joan Joesten of Yreka.
Honoring Carl's wishes, no services were held and internment was at Alta Mesa Memorial Park in Palo Alto.
