- Memorial services will be Thursday for Eleanor "Ellie" Mabie, who died Sunday at Stanford Medical Center after a short illness related to cardiac complications. She was 72.
Mrs Mabie, a native Californian, was the daughter of Swedish immigrants and served in the US Navy during World War II. She was employed for many years as a school secretary. After retirement, enjoyed her family, friends, volunteer work, and traveling, especially with such recreational vehicle groups as Cabrillo Viajeros and Shrine Nomads.
She was active in the Service League of Watsonville Community Hospital and YWCA of Watsonville Thrift Shop. She was also a member of Philanthropic Education Organization, the Vasa Valhalla Lodge of Santa Cruz, and attended First Baptist Church of Watsonville.
She is survived by her husband of more than 50 years, Eldon Mabie of Watsonville; two sons, Jerry Mabie of San Jose and Ken Mabie of Aptos; a daughter, Julie Ann Mabie of San Diego; a sister Ethel Jeffers of Richmond, Va; two grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Thursday at First Baptist Church of Watsonville. Private cremation and burial will be at Pajaro Valley Memorial Park.

- Eldon Gerard Mabie died Saturday, June 20, 2009, at his home in Freedom. He was 92.
Born in Redwood City, Mr. Mabie lived in the Watsonville area for 59 years. He worked for Bank of America and later worked as a real estate agent. Mr. Mabie served in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family. Mr. Mabie was a Blue Knight volunteer at Watsonville Community Hospital, a driver for the Volunteer Bureau, and a member of the Pajaro Valley Rod & Gun Club, Watsonville/Santa Cruz Sons in Retirement, Watsonville Elks, Gideons and Masonic Lodge.
Mr. Mabie is survived by two sons, Ken (Julie) Mabie of Aptos and Jerry Mabie of San Jose; daughter, Julie (Earl) Mabie-Marcellus of Leavenworth, Wash.; sister, Joan Joesten of Yreka; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Gustafson.
A memorial service will be held Sunday at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church in Watsonville on Fifth and Lincoln streets.

- Gerard (Jerry) Mabie died on Tuesday, Feb. 6, 2018 at San Jose Regional Center after a tragic accident. He was 71.
He was born on May, 18, 1946 in San Francisco to Eldon and Eleanor (Gustafson) Mabie. He spent his growing up years in Watsonville, where he enjoyed family outings, tinkering with gadgets and later electronics, camping and other activities. He spent his adult years in San Jose, living in group homes and working at Goodwill and most recently, Hope Workshops. He loved life, had a great smile and sense of humor. He enjoyed movies, burgers/fries, going to the mall with his friends, tinkering in Ken and Julie's garage on his many electronic projects, going on trips to Washington to see Julie and Earl, and on trips with other adults with developmental disabilities.
He is survived by his brother, Kenneth (Julie) Mabie of Aptos; sister, Julie (Mabie) (Earl) Marcellus of Leavenworth, Wash.; as well as a niece and nephew, their spouses and children. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mr. Mabie, in his tragic death, was able to be an organ donor. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you consider organ donation. There will be a family/Group Home/and coworker Memorial Service at a later date.
