- The death occurred suddenly on Tuesday morning, Aug. 22nd of Susanna Marshall wife of the late E. W. Maybee of Eganville. Her passing marks the closing of a very active career not only in this part of the country but in Western Ontario. Born in Cobden August 14th 1878, she spent her early life here, where she was a devote member of St. Paul's Anglican Church, before she was married she was a graduate of the Ontario Business College, Belleville, and for many years was the telegraph operator in Cobden. In 1900 she was married. Of the immediate family surviving are Mrs. C.W. Moreton of Norval, Edward and Grace and Fred of Forrester's Mills, Ontario. Mrs. Maybee revealed in later life her literary talent and was fond of writing about her own Ottawa Valley, she was well informed regarding history of this district and her stories dealing with the early settlers of Cobden and the Muskrat Lake Navigation will be greatly missed. As an attestation to the regard in which she was held, the funeral at Cobden was well attended by her friends. She was the last survivor of one of the oldest families in Cobden and was held in high esteem by an extensive circle of friends. The service was conducted at the church and graveyard in Cobden by the Rev. G. Carryer of Eganville, The pall bearers were Mr. Alex Mills, Dr. J. A. Laframboise, Mr. Gordon Boland, Mr. Wm. Gibbs, Mr. Hugh Hill and Mr. Herb.
