- Major Ralph D. Maybee (Ret'd) died at the Kingston General Hospital on Thursday, December 30, 1976.... Resting at the Robert J. Reid and Sons Funeral Home, corner of Barrie and Johnson Streets. Service in the "Chapel on the Corner" on Monday, January 3 at 2 pm.
Major Ralph Maybee of Westbrook, who died recently at Kingston General Hospital, was buried in Cataraqui Cemetery following cremation at Ottawa
He was born in Murray Township, Northumberland County, and in 1933 joined the Royal Canadian Corps of Signals. He served overseas during the Second World War during which time he transferred to the RCEME, retiring in 1960.
Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Morehead, two sons, Stephen and Ronald, both of Westbrook; two sisters, Mrs S. (Marjorie) Sherin, Ottawa; Mrs C. (Phyllis) Maguire, Trenton; two brothers Homer T., Ottawa; Leonard B., Toronto.
He was predeceased by his first wife, Violet Ward, England, and a brother Elmer, Caro, Mich.
Major Maybee spent several years at Queen's University School of Business in an administrative capacity.
He served as President of the Bay of Quinte Branch, United Empire Loyalist Association, and was a member of the United Services Institute, the L.O.R.E. Association, Kingston branch, and an associate member of the Officers' Mess, CBF Kingston.
Pallbearers were Col. A. L. Maclean, Major E. J. O. Harvey, Bayne Moreland, Roy Pettie, Eric Brown, and Edward Briggs.
