With the help of two friends, Mr. Maybee designed the rebuilding of a 42-foot boat that was docked in San Diego, Calif. He served as commander of the U.S. Power Squadron and taught a course in celestial navigation at San Bernardino Valley College. In 1969, Mr. and Mrs. Maybee retired in Fishtail.
