Obituary |
6 Jan 1956 |
Albany, New York [7] |
- A volunteer fireman collapsed and died yesterday after he helped fight a fire that virtually destroyed the Danby town barn.
He was Norman A. Mabee, 41, of Danby. He collapsed after entering the barn to help remove equipment.
Coroner Ralph Low said Mabee had suffered a heart attack complicated by smoke poisoning.
According to firemen, sparks from a wood fire in the building had escaped through a break in the chimney, causing the blaze in the two-story, concrete and frame barn.
Damage was estimated by firemen at $50,000.
