Witness-Obituary |

- The living links which bind the present to the past are being broken one by one, yet these disembodied Christians are ever joining us more really to the eternal future of rest and glory. Mrs Hannah Hart Mabee was born at Hartsdale N. Y. , Feb. 14, 1818. Her parents, Steven and Mary Hart moved to Candor with their family of 11 children in 1842. On Feb. 2, 1843, Hannah was married to Daniel Mabee. Two years afterward they came to Spencer where she has lived for fifty seven years. To them were born five children; Mrs Mary J. Remson, Mrs Sarah M. Fisher, and John Mabee of Spencer; Mrs Elizabeth A. Jennings of Granfield Hill, Conn. and Mrs Ida Clark of Van Etten.. For fifty six years these family ties were unbroken by death. The first one to fall asleep after many years of zealous activity in good works was the husband who died July 31, 1899. Hannah Hart was converted and joined the church when thirteen years old. In 1846 she brought her church letter to the M. E. Church of Spencer, and has ever remained an honored member of that society. Since her husband's death she and her son John, have lived on the old homestead till a few weeks ago, when she decided to lay aside the cares of house keeping and live with her daughters. Last Tuesday she was taken seriously ill and passed away Thursday afternoon, April 10, 1902. Fureral services were held last Saturday in the Spencer M. E. Church by Rev. W. H. Stang, assisted by Rev. R. C. Hoskins. Interment in Evergreen cemetery. Wm. Decker funeral director.
