- Morris E. Mabie, 38, of 58844 Mason St., Mishawaka, was found dead in his parked auto at 3 p.m. Monday just northeast of Ireland and Ironwood Roads. Deputy Coroner Dr. Harry A. Ludwick ruled the death a suicide and said it was due to carbon monoxide poisoning. He also estimated the body had been in the auto for at least two days. Sheriff's deputies said that a hose had been run from the auto's exhaust pipe through a window and into the vehicle. The victim had previously been reported as missing by his family. Born in North Webster Mabie, an accountant, was born Dec 13, 1922, in North Webster. He had lived in this area most of his life. He was married June 30, 1943, in South Bend, to Thelma Nutting, who survives. A June 1953 graduate of Indiana University, he was an Army veteran of world War II and the Korean War, serving during the latter conflict as a Captain in the Finance Corps. Survived by Family Also surviving are his father, Walter K. Mabie, Kokomo, his mother, Mrs. Mary VanCamp, Phoenix, Ariz; two brothers, Ernest Mabie, Mishawaka, and Eugene Mabie, Bedford; five half-brothers, Charles, Ronald, Roland, Joseph, and William VanCamp, all of Phoenix, and four half-sisters, Mrs. Bernice VanCamp, and Mrs. Bernita Barker, both of Phoenix, and Mrs. Ester Furguson and Mrs. Freda Lewis, both of Kokomo. Friends may call after 7 p.m. today at the Orvis Funeral Home. Services will be held there at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Rev. William Neece, pastor of the First Church of God, Mishawaka, will officiate. Burial will be in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens.
