I have been told that my Grandma Ruth kept her firstborn, Oliver James, and adopted my father to Mr.and Mrs. G. A. Maybee of Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan when he was a few years old. I understand my grandfather, Phillip Powell, died from influenza as a young adult. I know very little about him. I am wondering if my grandmother, finding herself a single parent with two young boys had to give up my father for care. I was told that she did visit my father in Moose Jaw from time to time. My grandmother was involved in our lives as we grew up."
