- The remains of Mrs. Delilah Maybee Sumner were brought to Corning from Clarinda last Saturday. The lady died in Clarinda September 25th at the home of her son, Sherman Gay. Funeral services were held at the M.E. church in this city Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. J.W. Taylor and burial was made in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
Mrs. Sumner was born in Scott County, Pennsylvania July 3, 1857. She was married to E.W. Gay July 21, 1881 and to them six children were born, four of whom are now living. They are Mrs. Rebecca Dillon and Mrs. Martha See of Clarinda, Albert Gay of Carbon, and Sherman Gay of Clarinda. E.W. Gay died in Corning May 11, 1901 and in October 1906, Mrs. Gay was married to Sylvester Sumner, who survives her, being a resident of Nodaway.
