  	City School District principal and teacher of 43 years died Sept 25 at the age of 88. Gertrude E Mabee was a principal of 22 years and served as head of schools 28, 31, and 11. She had also been a teacher for 21 years according to Dorothy Cooligan, a fellow principal and friend. Miss Mabee was a Rochester native who attended School 38 and the former Charlotte High School. She graduated from City Normal School in 1927, obtained a bachelor's degree from the University of Rochester in 1946 and received a master's degree from Colombia University in New York City in 1952, Cooligan said.... Miss Mabee liked to host gatherings at the home she and Cooligan shared and led the Sunday morning coffee at her church, Brighton Presbyterian Church. She is survived by a sister Helen Babcock of Rochester; niece Barbara Miller of Rochester; and nephew Larry Smith of Allegheny.
