- Floyd Calvin Wheeler, Independence, Buchanan, Iowa, born 4 Dec 1885, registered for the draft on 12 Sep 1918, at Independence, Buchanan County, Iowa. He was farming for himself. His nearest living relative was his wife, Ida Wheeler at the same address. He was white, tall, stout, with gray eyes and brown hair.

- News has reached relatives here of the death of J. L. Mabie, 68, at 1:30 p.m. Monday at his home in Roswell, N. M. He had bee in failing health and had suffered severe paralytic strokes. Death was caused by a final attack.
Mr. Mabie conducted an implement business in Independence, Ia., for a number of years. He left there about 20 years ago and later became associated with the Mabie-Lowrie Implement company at Roswell. He had been an occasional visitor to Waterloo.
Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Minnie Mabie; one son Milton Wheeler [sic], a commercial traveler; three daughters, Mrs. Mildred Vandenburg, Los Angeles, Cal., and Mrs Floyd Wheeler and Mrs. Frank Whittaker, both of Roswell; and two brothers-in-law, W. S. Thompson, 1113 Leavitt street, and J. R. Thompson, Buckingham, Ia.

- J L Mabie, the principal figure in the Mabie-Lowery Hardware company at Roswell for many years after its organization in 1911, died at his home in that city last Monday afternoon.
Funeral services with interment at South Park were held yesterday afternoon.
Mr Mabie had been ill for the past two or three years and his death had been expected for a long time.
He is survived by his widow and four children, all of them grown and married.
