- Once Hotel Proprietor - Late Conducted Jewelry Store
Charles A. Mabie died at 6:30 o'clock yesterday afternoon at his home, 9 Clinton-ave., after a week's illness of pneumonia following an attack of influenza, aged 42 years. A private funeral will be at 2 o'clock Saturday and the body will be buried in Cortland Rural cemetery.
Mr. Mabie, who was a son of Mr. and Mrs. Frank E. Mabie, was born in this city Oct. 25, 1875, and went to Syracuse with his parents when still a child. He returned to Cortland seventeen years ago, and for eleven years was in partnership with his father in the management of the Dexter House. When the Mabies sold their interests in the hotel property, Charles Mabie opened a jewelry store in the Cortland House block, later moving to the Meade building in Main-st. He was married in this city Jan. 16, 1907 to Mrs. Emma Wade, who survives him. Besides his wife and parents, he leaves a sister, Mrs. John B. Dunn, all of Cortland.
