- Kenneth Leslie Maybee, 96, St. Joseph, passed away Friday, October 14, 2011, at Heartland Regional Medical Center.
Born August 21, 1915, in Horton, Kan., to Dick C. and Lena (Jack) Maybee, Kenneth served in the US Army during World War II. He retired from the GM Fairfax plant in 1975 to work in rental real estate until his death.
Kenneth married Maxine Eloise Lott on February 15, 1942. She preceded him in death.
His parents, three brothers, Herschel and Orville Richardson and Garnet Maybee, and two sisters, Thelma Kuchta and Hazel Rhoades, also preceded him in death.
Survivors include his children: Kenneth L. Maybee, Parkville, Mo.; Michael G. Maybee, Overland Park, Kan.; and Marjorie E. "Sally" Linscott, St. Joseph; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Mr. Maybee has been cremated under the direction of Heaton-Bowman-Smith & Sidenfaden Chapel. There will be no visitation or services, but a celebration of his life will be held Sunday, October 30, from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. at the Brookdale East Apartments, 3414 Messanie Street, St. Joseph. Inurnment: Horton Cemetery, Horton, Kan., at a later date.
