- The Raymond Mabey family of Sitka, Alaska, arrived in Cuba on June 18 for a two-week visit. They are pictured at the home of Mr Mabey's parents, Mr and Mrs George W. Mabey, Union Street, with the eye-popping "welcome home" banner which greeted the Alaskans.
Raymond Mabey is manager of the Sitka branch of the First National Bank of Anchorage, and has lived in Alaska since 1961. His wife, Bobbie, is a native of Anchorage. Their children are Kris, 13, and Raymond 10. The family last visited Cuba ten years ago, but hosted the elder Mabeys, (George and Andrea) in Alaska in
1965 and in 1969. The family will depart for Sitka on June 30.
The welcoming sign was made by Raymond Mabey's sister, Harriet (Mrs Roger Taylor) of Potsdam, who is also visiting at her parents home. Also home for the family reunion is their sister, Sandra Rork of Houston, Texas. The Mabeys told The Patriot that this marks the first time the whole family has been together in more than ten years.
