- Charles Mabie, city marshal at both Colfax and Valley Junction for a number of years, died this morning at his home in Valley Junction after three years ill health.
He occupied the marshal's position at the latter place for three years, resigning because of his health.
He is survived by his wife and one son, Glenn of Valley Junction; six brothers, William, Knoxville, Jonas, Bucknell, Edris, Springfield, Ill, Alex, Valley Junction, Oliver and Gomer of Colfax, and three sisters, Mrs William Rhoades of Oskaloosa, Mrs J E Evans and Mrs Harry Darrok of Colfax.
Funeral services will be held at the Valley Junction Christian church Friday afternoon. Burial will be in Glendale cemetery.

- Services for Gomer Mabie, 45, of 837 Nineteenth st, who was fatally injured Wednesday in an accident at the Shuler Coal Co mine near Waukee, Ia, will be today at Newton's Funeral Home, with burial at Colfax, Ia.
Mabie, a mule driver in the mine, was pinned to the wall by a car that jumped the track, members of the family said. He died at Mercy Hospital at 3 a.m. Thursday.
Surviving are his wife, two sisters, Mrs Mary Jane Evans and Mrs Sarah Darrick of Colfax, and three brothers , Alec of West Des Moines, William of Knoxville, Ia, and Jonas, living in Illinois.
