- Edris "Ed" Mabie Jr., 82, of Springfield died Friday, Feb. 3, 2006, at St. John's Hospice.
He was born Nov. 17, 1923, in Des Moines, Iowa, the son of Edris and Mabel Florence Wilcoxson Mabie Sr.
Mr. Mabie graduated from Illinois State University. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II. He was principal of Raymond Junior High and retired from Springfield School District 186 after teaching English, social studies and driver's education at the junior high level for 34 years.
He was of the Methodist faith. He was a member of VFW Post 4763, American Legion Post 759, Eagles Aerie 437 and Horseshoe Club. He was a basketball coach at Raymond Jr. High and a referee.
Survivors: daughter, Joan (husband, Gary) Ori of Chatham; two sons, Jim (wife, Beverly) Mabie of Chatham and Ed (wife, Theresa) Mabie of Auburn; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sister, Joan (husband, Charlie) Bohles of Springfield; brother, Gomer (wife, Margaret Ann) Mabie of Springfield; three nieces; and two nephews.
Services: Staab Funeral Home, Scott Brindley officiating. Burial: Oak Ridge Cemetery.

- Charles Robert Bohles, 87, of Springfield, died at 12:20 pm, Monday, December 13, 2010 at Memorial Medical Center. He was born in Springfield, Illinois on October 18, 1923 to Charles W. and Marie E. Larsen Bohles. He married Joan Mabie on April 12, 1947 and she survives. Also surviving are one daughter, Linda (Doug) Daniels of Springfield; one granddaughter McKinzie Daniels, and 2 step granddaughters, Megan Daniels and Ashley Kil; one brother-in-law, Gomer (Margie) Mabie of Springfield; one sister-in-law Roberta Mabie of Springfield, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Mary Lou Hesson.
Charles was a U.S. Army veteran serving during WWII where he served in the Middle Eastern Theater and received one silver and one bronze battle star. He was a lifelong resident of Springfield and retired as a bookbinder with the Illinois State Journal Printing Company. He was of the Christian faith and was a founding member of the Rod and Reel Club. He was inducted in to the Springfield Sports Hall of Fame as a member of the 1940 Feitshans High School Basketball team and enjoyed spending time with his family
