- Final respects were paid yesterday morning to Leslie Watson Mabie, 54, of Hopper Avenue, who died suddenly Thursday night. The funeral rites were performed in the Reformed Church by the pastor, Rev Edwin T Jones. Interment was in the church cemetery.
Mr Mabie was born in Jersey City and was educated in Jersey City and in Bayonne. He served in the US Navy throughout World War I. He was a member of the John A Dean Post, American Legion of Butler, the Pompton Plains PTA, and an honorary member of the Pacquenae Tennis Club.
He moved to Pompton Plains 27 years ago shortly after his discharge from the navy. During that time he was credit manager for the Armour Leather Co, New York.
He leaves his wife, Mrs Irene Laroy Mabie, formerly of Staten Island; his mother, Mrs Eleanor Mabie; a daughter, Iris, and a sister, Mrs Richard A C Seaman, all of Pompton Plains.
