- Hobart NY Independent Thursday July 16, 1885: Mrs. Hurley has Kirpens arrested on a peace warrant for "playing the gallant" to her 16 year old daughter Kate. Held on $300 bail.
Hobart NY Independent Thursday July 23, 1885: Katie Hurley takes the stand in defense of Kirpens. Kirpens skips bail, caught in Oneonta, returned to Delhi then rearrested for abduction.
Hobart NY Independent Thursday July 30, 1885: Hurley-Kirpens suit continues. It adjourned on Friday. Soon after Kirpens was seen driving out of town with Katie, Teams sent out to stop the fugitives and they were found at Katie's brothers house.

Could not find August 18th article. However, this article also mentions that Schenectady papers state he ill-treated his first wife who later died and abandoned his second. - Anthony Kirpens and William Mabee are arrested Mar 22, 1880 for stealing fowls from Susan Veeder on Jan 6, 1880. William elects to be tried by Justice, sentence to 3 Mo. in jail. Anthony waived examination, sent to County jail to await Grand Jury. Anthony was released under prior decision by Supreme Court on petty larceny rules. He was rearrested soon after and was sentenced to 3 Mo. hard labor.
