- Col. H. Clay M. Supplee, retired Army officer whose career included service in three wars, died yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage at his home, 176 South Harrison Street. He was 77 years old. Colonel Supplee enlisted in the Maryland National Guard during the Spanish-American War. He was discharged as a lieutenant in 1899 and and re-entered the Army two years later. In World War I he served at the Embarkation Office at Newport News, VA, and in World War II as Commander of Special Services at Governors Island. He was assigned to Fort Niagara when he retired, in Aug. 1943. He leaves his wife, Mrs. Litta Mabie Supplee, a stepdaughter Mrs. Dorothea M. Lein, of this place, and a stepson, Theodore Mendelssohn of Indianapolis.

- Mrs. Percy Clifford Ludlam of 118 East 93rd Street has announced the engagement of her daughter, Miss Dorothea Mabie Bach, to John Earl Philip Lein, son of Mr. and Mrs. William J. Lein of New York. Miss Bach was graduated from the Hamilton Institute of New York and attended Virginia College at Roanoake, VA. She is the granddaughter of the late Charles E. Mabie, whose family was among the earliest Dutch settlers to arrive in New York on the ship Netherland in 1623. Mr. Lein is with Livingston and Co., stock brokers. The date of the wedding has not been set.

Lein, yesterday afternoon in the Church of St. Ignatius Loyola, Park Avenue and 84th Street. The Rev. Dr. John Krohe performed the ceremony. The bride, who was escorted by her uncle, Robert Murray Brown, had Mrs. Horace C. Stoneham as her only attendant. Ivan Scholem was best man for Mr. Lein. The ushers were Richard Sentner, Theodore J. Mendelssohn, and John Doran. The ceremony was followed by a small reception at the home of the bride's mother, 140 East 81st Street. Upon their return from a motor trip, Mr. Lein and his bride will live in this city.
