- Garvin E. Maybee, aged 73, of Alpena, died Tuesday, August 12 at North Arkansas Medical Center.
He was born August 29, 1916 at Compton, Arkansas son of Henry and Mellie Sims Maybee. He was a farmer and a member of the Alpena Church of Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Amie Pearl Sneed Maybee, Alpena; two sons, J.R. Maybee, Seymour, MO and Charley Maybee, Alpena; a daughter, Lucille Bailey, Alpena; two brothers Loman Maybee, Alpena and Sherman Maybee, Rogers; four sisters, Marie Villines, Ponca; Opal Kilgore, Kansas City, Mo., Clithy Hammons and Blance Binam, both of Alpena and four grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Merle, Milton, Garland (Cat) and Troy Maybee.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, August 25, at Alpena Church of Christ with Fred "Sonny" Snow and Jerry Goen officiating. Burial was at the Alpena Cemetery under the direction of Christeson Funeral Home.
Pallbearers included Ronald Ward, James Bailey, E. B. Smith. Honorary pallbearers included Ralph Suggs, Hugh Magness, Jay Parker, Lanty Frazier, John Ward, and Jimmy Jones.

- Sherman Mack Edward Maybee, of Alpena, died Jan. 22, 2007, at the age of 78, at his home.
He was born Aug. 5, 1928 in Compton, the son of Henry David and Melvina (Sims) Maybee. His parents preceded him in death, along with a daughter, six brothers, three sisters, one grandson, one granddaughter, and a great grandson.
He had served in the U.S. military and retired from Rogers Grain and Feed Store.
Survivors are his wife, Patricia (Tackett) Maybee of the home; a sister, Clithy Hammonds Ward of Berryville; four sons, Henry David Maybee and his wife Christina of Berryville, Dennis Edward Maybee of Green Forest, Virgil Dewayne Maybee and his wife Gail of Alpena, and Duard Mearle Maybee and his wife Donna of Cave Springs; two daughters, Beverly Ann Coleman of Green Forest and Brenda Evelyn Woodworth of Alpena; daughter-in-law Shelly Ruth Maybee of Green Forest; 13 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He is also survived by a host of other family and friends, too numerous to count.
Services were held Thursday, Jan. 25, at Coffman Funeral Home Chapel in Harrison with Rev. Jerry Scitern and Rev. Henry David Maybee officiating. Burial was in Plumlee Cemetery. Pallbearers were James Maybee, Justin Maybee, Dennis Whitaker II, Michael Maybee, Eddie Sean Coleman, Ivan Gilbert and Chris Drake. honorary pallbearers were Charlie Maybee, Doyle Madle, J.R. Maybee and Ray Faddis.
