- Horace Mabey, a respected citizen and lifelong resident of this community, passed away on Jan. 19th at the age of seventy - three years. His illness covered a period of only a few weeks, and his condition was considered serious for but a few days prior to his death. The funeral was held at the church on Jan. 23d, with Masonic honors, as he had been a member of the Order for over fifty years; sermon by his pastor, the Rev. S. E. Sargeant; burial in the family lot. He is survived by his widow, two daughters (Miss Cora Mabey and Mrs. LeRoy France), one son (Edward), three grandchildren and one sister (Mrs. Warren Finch), all of this place, and one brother (G. H. Mabey of Oak Hill), besides a large circle of other relatives and friends, who mourn his loss.

- Laura Louise, widow of Horace Mabey. who became unconscious on Monday. July 5th. never fully regained consciousness and passed away early on Thursday. July 8th. aged seventy-two years. The funeral was held at the church on Saturday and was conducted by the Rev. S. E . Sargeant of Pine Hill, the Rev. C. F . Robson of Durham and Dr. R. S. Inglis of Newark, N J. Mrs. Mabey was a loving mother and a kind friend and neighbor who will be greatly missed. She is survived by two daughters (Miss Cora and Mrs. LeRoy France), by one son (Edward) and three grandchildren all of this place; also by two brothers (Edward and Milton Gruett of Newark. N. J.) , as well as by a large number of friends. The sympathy of t h e community is extended to the mourners in their sorrow
