- Barbara Maybee Carter, one of the founding members and the second Executive Secretary of the Maybee Society (from April 1999 to November 2009) passed away in Everett, Washington on January 1, 2014; one month before her 82nd birthday
Barbara Jean Maybee was born on 6 February 1932 at Idaho Falls, Idaho. She was the daughter and first child of Eric Maybee and Rita Florence Millecam. Her parents lived in Wisdom, Montana, and caught a train to Idaho Falls to avail themselves of a hospital.
She grew up during the depression, with her family. As her father, a horseman, looked for work in the rocky mountain west to support them. By the start of World War II, they had settled in Butte, Montana, where Barbara graduated high school
In Butte she met and married Dean Ellis on 17 February 1951. The had four daughters, Allyn Jo, Loretta, Valerie, and Babette. Dean deserted the family and he and Barbara were divorced. On 11 July 1958 she married Walter Ellis Carter in Seattle and they had two more daughters, Leesa and Markay.
In 1986, she helped her sister, Belva Maybee Perry, start the Maybee Society, And, keeping a promise to her sister, took over the reins of the society after Belva passed away.
Her funeral will be at 1:00 on Wednesday, January 8, 2014 at the Latter Day Saint -Everett Stake Center, 9509 19th Avenue Southeast ,Everett, Washington. Viewing/ visiting Barbara will be from noon until 1:00. Service from 1:00 until approximately 2:00. Journey to Barbara's resting place at Evergreen Cemetery at 4504 Broadway, Everett, WA 98203

- On January 1, 2014, the six loving daughters of Barbara Maybee Carter are sad to announce the loss of their beloved mother. When Barbara was called to be with the Lord, she was surrounded by her loving family. Though born on February 6, 1932 in Idaho Falls, Idaho, she spent the majority of her life raising her family in the Seattle/Puget Sound area. Barbara leaves behind her sisters, Judy Bell, Deborah Larson, Delsa Daniels; brothers, John Maybee and Duane Stark; sister-in-law, Zina Maybee; daughters, Allyn (Bill) Hamblin, Loretta (Dan) Course, Valerie Waldean, Babette Cook, Leesa Brown and Markay (Dennis) Kern. She was also graced with 25 grandchildren, a slew of great grand children, as well as one great great grand child. Barbara was preceded in death by her parents, Eric Maybee and Rita Maybee Stark; as well as her beloved sister, Belva Perry; brothers, Bill Maybee and Joe Stark. Though she has left us, she can rest assured that her sense of humor and love for life will live on through those she raised, guided throughout her life, and kept us, as always, Maybee strong. Services will be held Wednesday, January 8, 2014 1:00 p.m. at the LDS church, 9509 19th Ave SE in Everett. A viewing will be held one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery.
