- Graveside services for Russell F. Mabie, 80, formwer Rapid City resident will be at Black Hills National Cemetery with Chaplin James Forbes officiating.
He died at Fort Meade VA Medical Center Wednesday.
Friends may meet at Kinkade Funeral Chapel in Sturgis prior to traveling to the cemetery
A memorial has been established to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
He was born Aug. 19, 1909 at Duluth, Minn., to Frank and Anne Mabie. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and later in the U.S. Air Force for 31 years. He was stationed at Ellsworth Air Force Base and later worked at the Rapid City Post Office. His family lived in Rapid City about 25 years.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn Mabie, 10538 S. Golden Willow Circle, Sandy Utah, a daughter Joanne (Mrs Martin Kuhn of Waterloo, Ontario, Canada; two sons, Rodney Mabie of San Jose, Calif., and Charles Mabie of Sandy Utah; a brother Wallace Maybie; two sisters, Violet Lind of International Falls, Minn., and Gertrude Mabie of Minneapolis, Minn.; two grandchildren, James, Jonathon, Paul, Daniel and Danessa.
He was preceded in death by two sisters.
