- George C. "Judd" Mabie, 78, West Sherman Avenue, DuBois, died Wednesday at his residence.
Born Aug. 5, 1933, in DuBois, he was a son of the late Clayton and Mary J. Graham Mabie. He was married to Genevieve "Gen" Thomas Mabie April 22, 1988, at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She survives.
He was a veteran and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He received the National Defense Service Medal. He was a graduate of DuBois High School. He was employed with Conrail Railroad and retired in 1995.
He was a Methodist by faith.
He was a member of Garfield Masonic Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons, DuBois Shrine Club, Scottish Rite Valley of Pittsburgh, Jaffa Shrine Altoona, American Legion Post No. 17, and was a life member of Fourth Ward Hose Company.
He enjoyed golfing and tinkering around the house. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
He is also survived by one brother, Eugene R. "Gene" (Earla) Mabie, DuBois, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received from 4-9 p.m. Friday and 10-11 a.m. Saturday at Mohney-Yargar Funeral Chapel, DuBois. Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons will hold a Masonic memorial service at 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with Minister Andrew Kruk officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Kidney Care Service of DuBois, 635 Maple Ave., No. D, DuBois, PA 15801, Garfield Lodge No. 559 Free and Accepted Masons, 28 E. - Earla J. Mabie, 89 of DuBois, PA died Saturday, October 8, 2022 at her daughter's home in Union City, PA.
Born on Feb. 21, 1933 in DuBois, PA, she was the daughter of the late Charles and Isabelle (Burns) Orr.
On Dec. 2, 1989 she married Eugene R. Mabie. He survives.
Earla retired from McDowell Manufacturing in DuBois, PA after 30 years of service. After retirement, she worked for 17 years as a substitute secretary for the DuBois Area School District.
She was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, and above all, she loved to spend time with her entire family.
Along with her husband, Earla is survived by her children, Kathryn L. Hunsberger and her husband Thomas of Union City, PA; Marty Mabie and his wife Michelle of Brooks, GA; Toni Kulbacki and her husband Mike of DuBois, PA; and Richard Mabie and his wife LuAnn also of DuBois, PA; 14 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Bill and Carl Orr; and five sisters, Bert Dodolak, Betty Simpson, Connie Pronko, Charlotte Lavin and Anna Stahlman.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, Oct. 16, 2022 from 1 – 3 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
A funeral service will be held on Sunday at 3 p.m. from the funeral home with her son in law Pastor Thomas Hunsberger and her grandson Pastor Joshua Hunsberger co-officiating.
Burial will take place in Morningside Cemetery.

Eugene R. Mabie, Age 91 of DuBois, PA, died Friday, August 4, 2023 at Nelson’s Golden Years.
Born on December 2, 1931 in DuBois, PA, he was the son of the late Clayton and Mary (Graham) Mabie.
On December 2, 1989, he married Earla J. (Orr) Mabie.
She preceded him in death.
Gene was a graduate of the DuBois Area High School Class of 1950 and served in the United States Army Reserves from 1949 until 1957.
He retired from the State of Pennsylvania Department of Labor and Industry as a safety inspector after 23 years of service.
Previous to working for the state, he had served as a City of DuBois Police Officer and had worked as an assistant manager at Penn Traffic Department Store.
He was also a former Health Code and Zoning Officer for the City of DuBois.
Gene was a life member of the City of DuBois Volunteer Fire Department and the J.E. DuBois Hose Company # 3.
He also served as the president of the Fourth Ward Hose Company for twenty-seven years.
Gene has been a fireman for seventy-three years.
Gene was a sixty-two-year member and past master of the Garfield Lodge # 559 F.&A.M. and a sixty-two-year member of the Coudersport Consistory and member of the Jaffa Shrine.
He had served on the board of directors of DuSan Ambulance, was a member of the George D. Montgomery American Legion Post 17, the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church, and served on the DuBois Area School Board for twenty-two years, seven as president.
He is survived by three children (Marty Mabie & his wife Michelle of Brooks, GA; Toni Kulbacki & her husband Michael; and Richard Mabie & his wife LuAnn, both of DuBois, PA;) a step daughter (Kathryn Hunsberger & her husband Thomas of Union City, PA), ten grandchildren, seventeen great grandchildren & two great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his brother (George “Jud” Mabie).
Visitation will be held on Thursday, August 10, 2023 from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. at the Baronick Funeral Home & Crematorium, Inc.
The members of the Garfield Lodge #559 F. & A.M. will hold masonic services on Thursday evening at 5:45 p.m.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023 at 11 a.m. from the funeral home with Gene’s son, Rev. Richard Mabie officiating.
Burial will follow in Morningside Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made to the J.E DuBois Hose Company # 3, 301 First St., and/or the DuBois Shrine Club, 28 East Scribner Ave., and/or Nelson’s Golden Years, 137 Oklahoma Cemetery Road, all in DuBois, PA 15801.

- Last Monday afternoon in the Presbyterian manse, Mr Clayton C Mabie and Miss Mary Jeanette Graham were united in marriage. Both the young people reside in DuBois. There future home will be in Tozier Avenue, DuBois.
