- Richard J. Mabie, 73, of Hawkins, died Thursday, May 31, 2012, at his son's home in Hurley.
He was born on Jan. 24, 1939, in Kennan, son of the late George and Dorothy (Minnett) Mabie.
Richard served in Korea in the United States Army. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and bicyclist who enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.
Richard is survived by two sons, Russell, of Hawkins, and Clint (Sydney), of Hurley; six grandchildren, Mindy (Seth) Dabler, Cindy (Tim) Houser, Kyle (Alex) Mabie, Cole (Becca) Mabie, and Adam and Jacob Mabie; two great-grandchildren, Dexter and Shelby Dabler; three brothers, Jim (Barb) Mabie, of Kennan, Bob Mabie, of Medford, and Mike Mabie, of Kennan; three sisters, Shirley Merrick, of Milwaukee, Mary Lou (Rocky) Sewell, of Bartonville, Ill., and Helen (Don) Zimmerman, of Westboro; and numerous nephews and nieces.
In addition to his parents, Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Tom.
Cremation has taken place at the Range Crematory in Hurley.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 8, at 11 a.m. at the Range Community Bible Church in Hurley. Luncheon will follow.
Arrangements are by Range Funeral Service and Crematory, Ketola-Burla Funeral Home of Ironwood.

kayaking on the Black River, Gogebic County, Michigan [3] |
- A 49-year-old Hurley [Wisconsin] man died Saturday from head injuries suffered while kayaking on the Black River in Michigan's western Upper Peninsula, authorities said.
Clint Mabie died while kayaking on the river in Gogebic County about 5 miles north of Bessemer, the Michigan State Police reported.
The agency reported that officers from its Wakefield post, along with deputies from the Gogebic County Sheriff's Office and paramedics, responded to the river near Narrows Creek at about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. Mabie was traveling with a group of kayakers when he was injured.
The Ironwood Township Fire Department, Gogebic County Search & Rescue and Michigan Department of Natural Resources conservation officers also responded to the call.

- Clint Richard Mabie, 49, of Hurley, returned home to his Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, April 16, 2016. He will be truly missed by his family and friends.
Clint was born Aug. 31, 1966 in Park Falls, the son of the late Richard and Darlene (McCombs) Mabie.
On Sept. 25, 1993 he married Sydney Ann Morrison in Minocqua. He was a member of the Range Community Bible Church of Hurley. Clint was currently employed as a lineman for Xcel Energy.
Clint will be missed by his family: his wife, Sydney of Hurley; his four sons, Kyle (Alex), Cole (Becca), Adam (Nissa), and Jacob Mabie, all of Hurley; three grandchildren, Calvin, Lyanna, and Isabelle Mabie; a brother, Russell Mabie of Hawkins; and many other relatives and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held at 1 p.m., Saturday, April 23, 2016 at the Downtown Ironwood Theatre, 107 E. Aurora Street, Ironwood. Luncheon will follow at the Range Community Bible Church in Hurley. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Range Community Bible Church Teen Ministry.
