- Emmett T. Maybee, 84, of Gy Mills, died Thursday, Dec 16, 1993, at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove.
He was born in Crawford County on Sept. 17, 1909 to William and Alvira (Kast) Maybee. He married Eunice Gander on March 15, 1937, and she preceded him in death on May 13, 1985. He farmed in Crawford County and owned Midway Orchard. He also raised strawberries and watermelons until his retirement. He was a local mucician who played for various nursing homes and other places for elderly's enjoyment.
He is survived by four daughters, Janet Pena of La Cross, Judy (Don) Stovey of Bell Center, Julienne (Bill) Baker of Viola, and Donna (Kerrin) Coyne of Byron, Ill.; a son Jim Maybee of Gays Mills; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; his sister Rose Peterson of Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home; two brothers, Frank (Marie) Maybee of Soldiers Grove, and Leo (Vesta) Maybee of Readstown; a niece Laura Ward of Aurora, Ill., and a nephew Clarence Peterson of Readstown, who were both raised along with his brothers and sisters; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Eunice, he was preceded in death by his parents; his forst wife, Elrena (King); two sons Leslie and Marvin; two grandchildren. Brian and Julie Maybee; one great-grandchild, Dale Gander; five sisters, Nellie, Mary, Anna, Sophronia and Alice; and four brothers Willie, Walter, Charles and Roy.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec 19, at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Elders John Johnson and Lawrence Davenport will officiate. Burial will follow in North Clayton Cemetery.

- Judith A. Stovey, age 77 of Gays Mills, passed away on Sunday June 7, 2020 at Gundersen Hospital in Boscobel, surrounded by her family. She was born January 17, 1943 in North Clayton Township Crawford County Wisconsin. The daughter of Emett and Eunice (Gander) Maybee. She married Burnie Christopherson in 1961, they divorced. She married Donald Stovey September 17, 1985 at the Church of Jesus Christ Latter Days Saints in Montgomeryville. She is survived by her husband; Donald Stovey of Gays Mills. There children; Burnie (Andrea) Christopherson of Bell Center, Lori (Don) Brown of Gays Mills, Sara Christopherson of Bagley, Teri Christopherson of Cashton, Lisa ((Jody) Anderson of Viola, Cyndy (Gerald) Klatt of Richland Center, Craig (Heidi) Stovey of Reedsburg, Chad (Heidi) Stovey of Soldiers Grove, Shawna (Nick) Koch of Reedstown, David Pena of California. 26 Grandchildren, 7 Great-Grandchildren. One brother; Jim Maybee of Gays Mills. Three Sisters; Donna Marie Coyne of Byron Illinois, Janet Pena of West Salem, Julienne (Bill) Baker of Viola, and Barney.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a son Michael Christopherson, two brothers: Leslie Maybee, Marvin Gander, and one grandson Carter Stovey.
Funeral Services will be held on Thursday June 11, 2020 at 12:00 P.M. at the Maple Ridge Bible Church rural Boscobel. Pastor Noel Mayes, and Pastor David Smith Co-officiating. Burial in the Haney Ridge Cemetery, rural Mt. Zion. Friends may call on Thursday June 11, 2020 from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service at the Maple Ridge Bible Church rural Boscobel. The Kendall Funeral Service of Boscobel is assisting the family.

- Janet Pena passed away in the early morning hours Monday, Dec. 14, 2020, at Lakeview Health Center, West Salem. She passed at the age of 82. She was in her family and friends' thoughts and prayers. She had underlying health issues and succumbed to COVID-19.
Janet was born Feb. 23, 1938, on her Grandpa William Maybee's home farm in Bear Creek, town of Clayton, Wis. She was the eldest daughter of Emmett and Eunice (Gander) Maybee.
Janet attended Madison Business ,after graduating from Gays Mills High School in 1956. She was a straight-A student in both high school and college. She worked as a civilian clerk-typist in Madison, Wis., for the U.S. Armed Forces Institute, where she met and married the father of her three children. She later moved with her family to Los Angeles, where she worked as a clerk-typist for the Los Angeles City Library. After returning to Wisconsin, she worked for and later retired from Northern Micrographics in La Crosse, as a proof-reader and clerk-typist, after decades of service.
Janet always looked forward to her visits to California, to be with her family, as well as having her children and grandchildren visit her in Wisconsin. She loved to write letters and send greeting cards to family, friends, and those she met as a faithful and devoted Catholic at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Gays Mills. She also enjoyed her frequent phone conversations with all those she called or who called her. She maintained contact with three friends from high school, Elaine Sime, Lola Peterson, and Donna Burkum (who preceded her in death).
Janet was a beloved Mom and will be missed by her children, daughter, Cathy Fortney of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif.; her eldest son, David Pena of San Dimas, Calif.; and her youngest son, Tom (Ellie) Pena of Sacramento, Calif. She was a loving and cherished Grandma to her eight grandchildren; and four great-granddaughters. Janet is also survived by a wonderful brother, Jim Maybee of Gays Mills; and two loving sisters, Donna Coyne of Bryon, Ill., and Julienne Baker (Bill) of Viola. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Janet was preceded in death by her parents, Emmett and Eunice; a sister, Judy Stovey; two brothers, Leslie Maybee and Marvin Gander; a sister-in-law, Shirley Gander; a brother-in-law, Kerrin Coyne; three nephews, David Coyne, Richard Gander, and Chad Baker; and a niece, Jeannette Maybee.
Janet will be laid to rest with her parents, at North Clayton Cemetery. Services will be held next year. Online cay be expressed at www.vossfh.com.
