- Marie Mabey (nee Martin) passed away at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital on January 12th, 2012, one day shy of her 94th birthday. Born in Halifax to Alfred and Frances Martin, she was orphaned at an early age and raised in Portuguese Cove by her Aunt and Uncle, Theresa and Laurence Martin. There she met her husband, Basil Mabey, and married when she was twenty-three, moving to Vienna Street in Halifax where they raised a family. She lived in this home till she was eighty-eight when she moved to Parkland Estates. She was the loving mother of Reverend Thomas Mabey, Geraldine McVicar , Margaret Liiva, Susan Rockwell, Patrick Mabey, Frances Wolfe and Ann Marie Earle. She is fondly remembered by her grandchildren; Susan and Jennifer McVicar, Karen and Colleen Liiva, Kim Jordan and James Earle. She is also remembered with love by her great grandchildren: Emma and Taylor Macintosh, Zachary and Noah Kane, and Brian and Robert Petrie. Marie dedicated her life to her marriage and family. The family expanded as she grew older, and she never tired of hearing all the stories connected to each members' daily life. She said that hearing these stories every day kept her alive till she was ninety-three. She was a woman of deep faith, steadfast in her beliefs, humble in her judgments and loyal to those she loved. She was a dedicated parent and took great pride in all her offspring's' many accomplishments. She made a good life for herself, and a good life for those she loved. She will be missed. A funeral will be held at St. Benedict's Church on Monday at 10:30 A.M. Visitation will be held at Snow's Funeral Home on Lacewood Drive on
