Helen L. Mabee, 77, formerly of Celoron, NY, passed away Monday, March 18, 2024 at UPMC Chautauqua.
She was born in Kane, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Helen Ross Stites, and was a graduate of Southwestern Central School.
An area resident most of her life, Helen grew up in Lakewood and in later years enjoyed waitressing. She was a past member of the Celoron Hose Company Auxiliary, and a past member of the Celoron Civil Improvement Corp.
Helen loved to decorate. She enjoyed crafts, dancing, and simply sitting in the park or on her porch.
Surviving are four children: Kimberly (James) Butler and Maria Smith, both of Jamestown, and twins, Michael (Jamie) Mabee of Jamestown and Taralynn (Allen) McNeal of Angola, NY; two step-daughters, Pamela (Michael) DeRigge of Elmira, NY and Helen (John) McGough of Syracuse, NY; ten grandchildren: Tonya (Brady) White, James (Samantha), Christopher and Cassandra Butler, Codi (Kaisey) Smith, Kaylah (Mateo), Skyler and Tatium Mabee, and Kelliann and Gabrielle McNeal; as well as seven great-grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Douglas E. Mabee whom she married Feb. 3, 1967 and who died May 4, 2008.
The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the Lind Funeral Home, led by Helen’s grandson, Pastor Christopher Butler. Burial will be in Sunset Hill Cemetery.
