- Evelyn L. (Rumsey) Pianko, formerly of Unionville, entered the Gates of Heaven, Thursday, (August 28, 2003). Born in Vernon, NJ on April 4, 1920, she was the daughter of the late, William Harold Rumsey and Tillie E. (Mabee) Rumsey-Krom. Evelyn spent most of her life raising over 200 foster children in Connecticut and California. She leaves her husband of 66 years, Zigmont P. Pianko of Clinton; a sister, Florence Choinsky of Germantown, NY; a daughter, Barbara L. Contois of Clinton; two sons, Stanley R. Pianko of San Diego, CA, Cory J. Pianko of Barrow, AK. She also leaves seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; relatives and friends. She was predeceased by a daughter, Diane Pianko in 1956 and an adopted son, Major Kenneth Pianko in 1999. Graveside funeral services will take place on Wednesday, Sept 3 in Greenwood Cemetery in Avon.
