Beloved mother of Clayton (Michelle) Seneca Jr. and the late Guy Bennett; grandmother of Emily and Allison; great-grandmother of Guy; sister of Romayne Watt, Marjorie Gonzalez, James Maybee, Armand Maybee, Rebecca Schosek and John Maybee; daughter of the late Arthur and Maxine Maybee; also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends; best friend of Renee. James Allen Maybee, affectionately known as "Jim" or "Jimmy," passed away peacefully on July 2, 2026, in Virginia Beach, Virginia, at the age of 78. Born on February 16, 1948, in Cattaraugus County, New York. Jim was a cherished member of the Seneca Nation of Indians Turtle Clan. He lived a life marked by faith, love, hard work, and a servant’s heart.
Jim was the proud owner of Maybee Plumbing, where he was known as a skilled master plumber whose craftsmanship, integrity, and dedication earned the respect of all who knew him.
Together with his beloved wife, Cynthia "Pearl", Jim faithfully helped prepare and serve meals to those experiencing homelessness. Jim cherished leading his friends and family into daily prayer. He enjoyed working in his yard, caring for animals, solving puzzles, spending time outdoors, and working with his hands.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Maxine Maybee; his first wife, Mary Maybee; his beloved wife, Cynthia "Pearl" Maybee; his sisters, Marjorie Gonzalez and JoAnne Williams; his brother, Armond Maybee and wife Gloria; and his son-in-law, Joe Arnold.
He is survived by his loving daughters, Keely Arnold of Virginia Beach, Virginia; Deborah Ferren (Jerry) of Virginia Beach, Virginia; and Kimberly Nichols; his sisters, Romane Watt (David) of Seattle, Washington, and Rebecca Shosek (Larry) of Cattaraugus Territory; his brother, John Maybee (Elizabeth) of Cattaraugus Territory; as well as many cherished grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
