- Havre, Oct. 28--Frank M. Cowan, 70, president of the Montana National Bank of Havre, died today shortly after being stricken with a heart attack while chatting with friends downtown.
Cowan, born in Tillsonburg, Ontario, came to Havre in 1892 and after working for the Great Northern railroad for a time, entered business. He became owner of extensive real estate holdings and a ranch operator. When the bank was organized in 1918, he was named president.
Survivors include his widow, two sons, Frank and James of Havre, and two daughters, Mrs. Fred Tri of Great Falls and Mrs. Frank Franta of Havre. Cowan was a cousin of former state senator, W.T. Cowan of Box Elder.

- Mrs. Frank M. Cowan, 68, beloved Havre matron, died last night at her home, 437 Second street, after a long illness. Funeral arrangements are pending word from a son, Frank Cowan, who is stationed in the armed forces in Indio, Calif. Services will be held from St. Jude's church and burial will be in Calvary cemetery.
Mrs. Cowan's husband, president of the Montana National Bank, died Oct. 23, 1941.
Mrs. Cowan was born Rebecca Manning, May 26, 1874, at St. Paul, Minn., the daughter of James and Agnes Manning. She was educated at her birth place and came to Havre in 1895. She married Frank M. Cowan in Havre, Jan. 11, 1898.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Frank Franta of Havre, and Mrs. Fred Tri of Great Falls; also two sons, James Cowan of Havre and Frank Cowan. Two brothers, Edward Manning of Los Angeles, Calif., and William Manning of St. Paul, remain to mourn her passing, as well as six grandchildren.
Mrs. Cowan has taken an active interest in the St. Jude's Altar society and Royal Neighbors of America Star of Hope Lodge No. 7492. She gave much of her time in the furtherance of community progress and was well known throughout Northern Montana.
