- Following an illness of several years, Mrs Aurilla Mabie Stickney died at 8:30 o'clock last night at the home of her daughter, Mrs W W Brown, 175 East B Street (Colton). Death was due to senility, the deceased having celebrated her 88th birthday last September. She had been confined to her bed for seven weeks, but her last illness dated from a slight paralytic stroke which she suffered two years ago.
Mrs Stickney had made her home in Colton for 20 years. She was born in New York state in 1832 and, when only 10 years of age, traveled by boat and ox team to Rockford, Ill, where she resided for many years. Later she moved to Kansas.... She was an active member of the Baptist church before her illness.
Surviving Mrs Stickney are five of the nine children she brought into the world. They are Mrs Hattie Baker of Rockford, Ill; Mrs W W Brown of this city; Frank Stickney of Falls City Wash; Ed Stickney of Fresno, and W I Stickney of San Diego. One brother, Dr J S Mabie of Long Beach survives.
Funeral services will be held from the Baptist church Monday, Dr Mabie will be in charge of the service at the church and at the graveside in Hermosa cemetery where the deceased will be laid beside her husband, Calvin Stickney.
