- John Edward Christensen, 75, of 106 North Lindenwood, died Sunday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Tyra Talley, in Chanute, from injuries received in a fall November 2.
Mr. Christensen was born October 24, 1875, in Republic County, Kan., and received his education in the Republic County schools and Ottawa University.
He was a merchant at Concordia until 1928 when he moved to Smith Center to operate a restaurant. He moved to Topeka in 1946.
He was a member of the Smith Center Baptist Church.
He was married October 6, 1903, in Jamestown, Kan., to Louisa A. Poole.
Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, Merrill L. Christensen, Hebron, Neb., and Paul Christensen, Topeka; three daughters, Mrs. Talley of Chanute, Mrs. Dan Rumof, Topeka, and Mrs. LaRue Streiby, Washington, D.C.; three brothers, Alfred Christensen, Concordia, Homer Christensen, Jamestown, and Myron Christensen, Aberdeen, S. Dak.; two sisters, Mrs. Charley Kellogg, Jamestown, and Mrs. J.J. Eastman; nine grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
