- Estelle Mabie, wife of John Haynes died very suddenly at her home, near Pawling, on Friday night, July 19, 1918. She had not been in good health or some time, but was able to be about and attend to household duties. That morning she talked .over the telephone with, her sister, Mrs John C. Merrick of Townwrs, prepared dinner as usual, and was about in the early afternoon. Later in the afternoon she complained of not feeling as well and about six o'clock went to bed. Shortly afterward she experienced a sever pain in her head, and soon after passed away, a stroke of apoplexy causing her death.
Mrs. Haynes was a daughter of, the late Hiram and Julia Pugsloy Mabie and was sixty-one years old. She is survived by her husband and one son, Frederick Haynes, who lives with his parents; also by three sisters and a brother: Mary Eliza Mabie, of Pawling; Florence, wife of John C. Merrick, of Towner's; Carrie, wife of Joseph Kline, of Brooklyn, and Washington P. Mabie, of Pawling.
She was a woman greatly beloved by her relatives and friends alike, and her death brings mourning and deep regret to a large circle, not only of family connections but also in the community where her upright, useful life has been spent.
There was a very large attendance at the funeral, which was held at her late home on Monday at 2 p. m. Rev. E. Corneillo, pastor of tho M. E. Church, Pawling, officiated. The floral remembrances were many and very beautiful.
The burial was in tho family plot in Pawling Cemetery
