Princeton, Mille Lacs County, Minnesota [3] |
- E. H. Staples of Elk River, brother of George I. Staples of the Princeton Union, died at his home at Elk River on Thursday at 2 o'clock in the afternoon. Mr Staples had suffered from rheumatism for a period of 12 years and from Bright's disease for about six years. He was nearly 62 years of age.
Funeral services were conducted at the family residence on Friday evening at 7 o'clock. Rev. Atkinson officiated and interment was in Elk River Cemetery. The funeral was a large one and pretty floral offerings covered the casket.
E. H. Staples was born in Temple, Maine, on July 11, 1848, and came to Minnesota in 1868. He first went to Elk River in 1871, and was married there in 1874 to Miss Esta Mabie. He later left there and folllowed his occupation of miller in other parts of the state, and returned about 10 years ago and was employed as a rural mail carrier until called by death. He is survived by a wife, two sons and two daughters, besides two sisters, Mrs Herbert Johnson of Stillwater and Mrs Frank Frye of Elk River, and one brother Geo. Staples of Princeton.
Mr Staples was a truly good man — honest, industrious, and a kind husband and father. He was highly respected in the community and had a host of friends.
