He was born on October 27, 1947, the son of Orville and Betty (Little) Maybee in Alma, MI. On September 4, 1976, he married the love of his life, Frances, they enjoyed 47 years of marriage and together they were blessed with 6 children. Gary enjoyed golfing, drinking beer, doing football pools, and spending time with friends and family. He was a jokester and loved his family. Gary was a proud Vietnam Veteran. He was a life member of the Lyons VFW post 4646 and a member of the Hubbardston American Legion post 182. He also owned and operated GL Maybee Construction for many years. He is survived by his loving wife, Fran; children, Robinn Manista of Berkley, Shelley (James) Lake of McBride, Todd Maybee of Ionia, Luke (Arika) Maybee of Ionia and Charlie (Trina) Fyan of Ionia; sisters, Penny (Ted) Childers of Perrington and Sheila Fields of Carson City; grandchildren, Nolan, Gunnar, Travis, Gage, Owen, Danielle, Mia, Triston, Isabelle, Lukus, Kyona, Dathan, Danika and Kaylynn; and great grandchildren, Ethan, Benny, Michael, Melody, Sawyer and Leighton. Gary is preceded in death by his son, Danny; great granddaughter, Vayda, brother Mike; sisters, Patricia and Liz; and his father. There will be a graveside service held at 12 PM Saturday, March 9, 2024, at Lyons Cemetery. A luncheon will be held following the service at the Portland VFW, Post 4090, 1324 E Bridge St.Arrangements in care of Lake Funeral Home of Muir.
