- Cornelius Mabie of Union Hill, eloped with his domestic, Mary Mead, on Tuesday night, and addressed a note to his wife saying that he had no intention of returning home and asking her to "Try and shift for herself." Miss Mead is 17 and Mr. Mabie 56. Mrs Mabie says that she is willing to part with her husband if he returns her children, a boy of 10 and a girl of 8 years.
