- Mrs. Mary J. Tyler, 98 resident of the Thumb district 86 years and mother of five generations, died Friday [3 May 1935] in the home of her daughter, Mrs. Dancy Urie, 1305 Division St. The five generations are Mrs. Tyler, her daughter Mrs. Urie Mrs. Urie's daughter Mrs. Fannie Cooper, Detroit, Mrs. Cooper's daughter Mrs. Paul Richards and Her daughter Mill Ilene Richards, both of Port Huron.
Mrs. Tyler who would have been 99 years old on May 12, Mother's Day, had been in poor health several months.
She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Minnie Booth, Applegate, Mrs. Urie, a son George Tyler Los Angeles, Cal. A sister Mrs. Emma Ferris, Lincoln, Michigan 18 grandchildren, 32 great grandchildren and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 pm Sunday in the Urie residence. Burial will be in Washington Cemetery, Carsonville.
Mrs. Tyler, daughter of James Wixon, early settler of Croswell was born May 12 1836 in Ontario. Her parents moved to New York State when she was 1 1/2 years old and moved to Croswell when she was 12 years old.
Mar 15 1854, Mrs. Tyler married James Maybee, who died April 26, 1856. Dec. 29 1859 she married Oren Tyler, a carpenter, who also operated a dray business in Applegate several years. He died Nov. 19 1903.
