- Emmett T. Maybee, 84, of Gy Mills, died Thursday, Dec 16, 1993, at Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home, Soldiers Grove.
He was born in Crawford County on Sept. 17, 1909 to William and Alvira (Kast) Maybee. He married Eunice Gander on March 15, 1937, and she preceded him in death on May 13, 1985. He farmed in Crawford County and owned Midway Orchard. He also raised strawberries and watermelons until his retirement. He was a local mucician who played for various nursing homes and other places for elderly's enjoyment.
He is survived by four daughters, Janet Pena of La Cross, Judy (Don) Stovey of Bell Center, Julienne (Bill) Baker of Viola, and Donna (Kerrin) Coyne of Byron, Ill.; a son Jim Maybee of Gays Mills; 21 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; his sister Rose Peterson of Sannes Skogdalen Nursing Home; two brothers, Frank (Marie) Maybee of Soldiers Grove, and Leo (Vesta) Maybee of Readstown; a niece Laura Ward of Aurora, Ill., and a nephew Clarence Peterson of Readstown, who were both raised along with his brothers and sisters; and several other nieces and nephews.
In addition to his wife, Eunice, he was preceded in death by his parents; his forst wife, Elrena (King); two sons Leslie and Marvin; two grandchildren. Brian and Julie Maybee; one great-grandchild, Dale Gander; five sisters, Nellie, Mary, Anna, Sophronia and Alice; and four brothers Willie, Walter, Charles and Roy.
Funeral services will be Sunday, Dec 19, at Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Elders John Johnson and Lawrence Davenport will officiate. Burial will follow in North Clayton Cemetery.
